-I am an addict, I am in recovery and take that very seriously. I am awake.

-I completed a solo swim of the Catalina Channel 8/16/22, (I have a hard time letting things go)

- I am not part of any religious group. I am Just Joe. and thats more than enough.

-I completed a double crossing of the Grand Canyon (Rim to Rim to Rim) in a day, I understand suffering and perseverance.

I live in Southern California with my four sons in a tiny little house, a block from the beach, that we don’t own. We have a dog named Sally and two refrigerators that work most of the time. We often say that ‘wood is just a place where we keep our stuff, but the ocean is our home’ We love our neighbors, good food and dance parties!

-I was Married for a long time and now I am not. Ive seen lots of failure and success! Ive learned I don’t know everything.

-Graduated last in my class from Princeton Theological Seminary. M. Div.

-Finished the La Jolla 10 mile open water swim.

-Ive been punched in the face by religion more than once. I have also done some punching and I am sorry.

-I was pulled out of the Catalina Channel (8/2/21) at 2:30am, i understand FAILURE.

-I am a Trauma/ICU Chaplain and perform over 100 funerals a year. I hold sorrow and joy in the same hand.

-I am Jewish. I’m cool with Jesus, I meditate like a BUDDHIST, eat like a HIndu and sing like a Baptist.
